Recycle those pretty jars for making these morning meals. Each jar should be at least 10-12oz capacity.
The basic ratio of oatmeal to milk is 1:1. When adding chia, the thickening power of chia requires a ration of 1:4, so if you add 1Tb of chia seed, add an additional 1/4 cup of milk to the jar. You will also need to consider the rate of thickening for flax meal (ground flax seed) as 1:2. Adding raw cashews also requires a bit extra milk. So...when you get creative, just know that your final jar will be as loose or compact as the amount and type of grain and seed you include in your mix. It's not rocket science! Just have fun! If in the morning, your porridge is a bit thick, just add some milk and reap the benefits of a truly great breakfast!
Cocoa Nib Oat Jar
*For it's deep dark flavor that compliments chocolate so well, I choose molasses to sweeten this jar. Molasses is also rated, after date sugar, as the second most nutritionally valuable sweetener. If it's too dark for you, just go with something lighter like all honey, maple syrup or agave syrup.
Into your jar:
1/2 cup old fashioned oats, I like Bob's Red Mill Organic Oats

2 Tb ground flax, I like Bob's Red Mill
3/4 cup milk of choice (almond, soy, coconut, rice or whatever you love)
