Another Banana Bread recipe...yes it is! While nothing, in my opinion, tops my standard Banana Bread recipe, this version will come as a blessing to many for it's gluten free and sugar free goodness. If you're trying to stay away from wheat, here is a recipe that incorporates sorghum flour, millet flour and brown rice flour while holding together beautifully in a perfectly textured bread. You may opt to use a gluten free flour blend instead of the flour listed here.
I had been thinking about chocolate cake for way too long, like a couple of months...really. And it's so a-typical for me, that I kept passing it off, believing that it'll just go away if I ignore it long enough. And gosh darn it, I'm better than that! Cave in to something so common, so general, so simple, so sugary and evil is not what I like to do! At least let it be about something with a little more culinary savvy, like a glorious chocolate souffle or like Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk! But no, it didn't go away! So beautifully spring with strawberries, it's what dessert dreams are made of, complete with cake, custard, whipped cream and the season's fresh picked berries; Strawberry Trifle is one of my all time favorites! The 4 components of a trifle are the fruit, the custard, the "cake" and the whipped cream. And please, do not call this a "dump" or "compost" cake! So much more sophisticated than that, it is the original layered beauty, bright with elegance, so sublime, and a worthy finale for your finest feast. Trifles can be made as individual desserts as well by layering the components into your best stemware. However you choose to |
